Not enough people credit LOS SAICOS. While bands like MC5, The Stooges and Radio Birdman receive attention for a "proto-punk" garage style that spawned waves of rock bands in the 70's and 80's, Peru's seminal LOS SAICOS predated much of this music and brought aggressive punk rock into the spotlight in Peru way back in the mid 60's.
Formed in 1964, LOS SAICOS had a short existence, releasing six singles between 1965 and 1966. Despite never releasing an LP, LOS SAICOS sent shockwaves through the pop scene in Peru, causing a sensation in 1965 that is still felt in legends told about the band today.
