ABOUT MI APOGEO
Mi Apogeo, Inc. is a Latino-created, 100% Latino-owned media company. The goal of Mi Apogeo, Inc. is to pioneer a consumer experience: to create brands, content, and platforms that are culturally relevant to the bicultural second- and third- generation Latino consumer in the U.S.
Mi Apogeo (pronounced “mee- ah–po–hae-oh”), which translates from Spanish loosely as “my apogee,” is an affirmation of the power of our two cultures – American and Latino. The Hispanic American bicultural experience is at its “apogee” – its highest point, its peak- as a result of the fusion of experiences and customs that allow us to celebrate both cultures without sacrificing either. “Mi,” in English “my,” brings this zenith to a personal level: a celebration of our personal contributions and lifestyles but one that always remains connected to the collective Latino experience. MiApogeo.com is our first and primary expression of the American Latino experience and all its influences.
Our tagline, “My Latino Voice,” emphasizes not only a celebration of culture, of Latino expression in its diverse forms, but also affirms Mi Apogeo’s goal to celebrate in our community our achievements as individuals. Our site is therefore a hybrid, with social networking and online community capabilities, as well as content by AND for our audience. Set up your page and profile, invite your friends, blog and share, but also submit content to our site – articles, photos, video, artwork – and be featured as a Mi Apogeo Estrella (a star… isn’t that what we all want to be?). Then help create the first online self-created Latino history and culture resource by contributing to our very own Wikipedia of sorts, the first and only WikiLatino!
MiApogeo.com is truly “for us and by us” and taps into our communal sense of recognition and affirmation of what being a bicultural Latino in the U.S. represents today. It is our moment; it is my moment:
