We are very pleased to bring to Mi Apogeo another Estrella, designer Mariela Zapata.
Mariela treated us to a viewing of some of her custom-designed, custom-crafted accessories –
belts, boots, and handbags, in soft suedes and luxurious leathers, exquisitely decorated
with stones, contrasting fabrics, hardware, and her own carvings.  Boldness of line and
color predominate in the knee-high Arizona orange boots, handmade to the last detail, the
deep purple shoulder bag, with its fierce faux fur lining, and the turquoise-studded belt.
Each piece is a work of art.

Mi Apogeo:  This is an impressive collection.  What inspired you to do this work?
Mariela Zapata:  I’ve always had that creativity.  Ever since I was little I’ve loved color and style.  In my younger years, during high school, I would get intimidated, and say to myself, “do I get into the fashion business?  It’s so competitive!”  But through my experiences in life and interning and going to school for business and working in retail and getting myself more around this business, I realized this is my passion.
