'Mucho Esneaky': New York City's Latest Latin Lovers |

So you think that by rocking the oh-so ubiquitous I LOVE NY tee you're doing your "Real New Yorker" street cred any favors? Think otherwise.
For real New Yorkers, it's not so much about loving the city at large as it is about fiercely representing the borough they come from, be it the Boogey Down Bronx or BK All the Day Brooklyn. A line of tee-shirts by name of Mi Borough, launched two years ago by four Latinos, combines such insider knowledge with bilingualism, a sense of humor, and wearable art. The collection features the five boroughs spelled as they would be pronounced in Spanish. Thus, El Bronks replaces the Bronx; Manhattan becomes Manjatan; Brooklyn reads as Bruglin; Queens is Quins; and Staten Island, Estaten Ailan. The name is paired with a simple image representative of the borough such as the 7 train, skyscrapers, and the Brooklyn Bridge. The shirts come in American Apparel unisex S, M, and L, are available in grass, fuchsia, or asphalt, and quite affordable at $20 dollars each.
The collection is a product of the company, Mucho Esneaky, the brainchild of Nuria Net, Natalie Espinosa, Claire Frisbie, and Maria-Laura Steverlyntk. Say Mucho Esneaky of their shirts: "Our shirts feature original, tongue-in-cheek plays on words and images that will set you apart from all the "Vote for Pedros and Ciao Romas out there." Put quite simply, Mi Borough tees separate the legit from the posers.
